Taylor
Taylor, Texas is a city in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 14,592 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Williamson County.
Geography
Taylor is located northeast of Austin along Interstate 35 where it intersects with U.S. Route 79 and State Highway 95. It is considered part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.8 square miles (28 km2), all land.
Climate
The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Taylor has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, 14,191 people, 4,840 households, and 3,168 families resided in the city. The population density was 1,309.2 people per square mile (506.3/km2). The 5,131 housing units averaged 473.7 per square mile (182.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 65.86% White, 12.18% African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.80% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 17.57% from other races, and 2.67% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 32.23% of the population.
Of the 4,840 households, 34.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.8% were married couples living together, 13.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% were not families; 24.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.33 persons.
In the city, the population was distributed as 27.0% under the age of 18, 12.3% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 17.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females, there were 113.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 114.1 males
The median income for a household in the city was $31,073, and for a family was $34,929. Males had a median income of $26,642 versus $18,770 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,276. About 12.8% of families and 16.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 21.0% of those under age 18 and 14.5% of those age 65 or over.
Economy
Taylor is home to the Williamson County Expo Center, which hosts a variety of events throughout the year and is adjacent to the Sherwin-Williams paint factory. The city is also home to the Southwestern University Pirates and TAYLOR ISD.

Taylor, Texas is located in Central Texas just northeast of Austin and south of Georgetown along Interstate 35. As the county seat, Taylor has a small town feel while being close enough to larger cities to offer residents the best of both worlds. With a population of around 15000, Taylor is large enough to offer its residents a variety of amenities and activities while still maintaining that small-town charm.
One of the biggest attractions in Taylor is the Williamson County Expo Center which hosts a number of events throughout the year. The Expo Center is also adjacent to the Sherwin-Williams paint factory making it a convenient stop for anyone in need of supplies for their next project. The city is also home to Southwestern University, ensuring there is always something going on around town.
In addition to the Expo Center, there are a number of parks and recreation areas located in and around Taylor. The city has its own newspaper, the Williamson County Sun, as well as a variety of and restaurants to suit any taste.
